This is a Longpi Black Stone Cooking Pot  popularly known as Manipur Pottery / Black Pottery. This product is made from a mixture of black Serpentinite stone and weathered rock. Legend claims that food tastes better when cooked in these potteries. Locally in Manipur they are revered for medicinal values. It’s widely acclaimed by the locals that using these potteries prevent morning sickness for pregnant women.It’s non-toxic, inert and non-reactive. Be assured, when used the right way, the food will be evenly cooked and retain most of its nutrients as compared to steel or metallic alloy pots.

• Longpi pots and pans can be used for direct cooking over gas stoves or firewood, and are microwave-safe as well.
• Contents of the pot continue to sizzle for a long time after it is taken off the heat, ensuring that the food continues to remain hot. This is because of the stone content in the material used.
• Black color is naturally obtained during the manufacturing process, no paints or chemical are used for the same.

 Black Longpi pottery from Manipur is made from ground black serpentinite stone and special brown clay, which is found only in Longpi village. The products are manually shaped, polished, sun-dried and fired in a bonfire. The black color of Longpi ham is a result of reduction firing of the ware, while polishing the heated earthen pots with a local tree leaf right after firing gives them the beautiful shine.
